Scottsbluff National Monument (Solar Eclipse 2017)


In 1828, a fur trapper by the name of Hiram Scott was wounded and deserted by his companions. He gained a certain immortality by making his way to a magnificent formation of bluffs along the North Platte River before succumbing to his wounds. It was Hiram Scott that Scotts Bluff National Monument, Scottsbluff County, and the city of Scottsbluff have been named.










Riverside Discovery Center


Riverside’s 22 acre zoo features a diverse collection of both native and exotic wildlife exhibits providing an up close encounter in a lush park setting in Scottsbluff. Includes chimpanzees, monkeys, birds, eagles, zebra, buffalo, lions, tigers, reptiles, and much more.







Agate Fossil Beds National Monument


Preserved in a 3,000 acre national monument, Agate Fossil Beds and its surrounding prairie were once part of “Captain” James H. Cook’s Agate Springs Ranch, a gathering place for Chief Red Cloud and other Ogalala Lakota (Sioux) Indian people. This national monument is rich in history and sure to be enjoyed by many.








Lake Minatare State Recreation Area


If being indoors during the winter has got you itching for a chance to play in the water, Lake Minatare SRA won’t let you down. RV and Camping sites available. At 2,158 acres, Lake Minatare is the Panhandle’s largest body of water, attracting thousands of anglers, campers, water skiers and swimmers each year.




















Midwest Theater


Built in 1946, the Midwest Theater has been restored with lush velvet seats, beautiful carpeting, mirrors—an exciting place to attend movies and performances.  The Theater presentations film, live performances of music, theater, and art; and a space for community programs, and hosts a Film Festival in October in even numbered years.

Chimney Rock National Historic Site


Chimney Rock was the most noted landmark in all the pioneer’s dairies on the Oregon, Mormon, and California Trails. The Ethel and Christopher J. Abbott Visitor Center houses museum exhibits, a hands-on opportunity to “pack your wagon”, and a video presentation that tells the story of the great migration West.









Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area and Nature Center


Whether you become captivated by indoor interactive displays or from the exploration of 1,094 acres of wilderness, you’re sure to gain a deeper appreciation for the outdoors with a visit to the Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area and Nature Center. . The park, which is situated high on a rocky escarpment in the Wildcat Hills, offers an escape to the region’s signature rugged topography and evergreen-studded canyons.












Theater West at WNCC Theater


Theater West Summer Repertory is a Semi-Professional theater program presenting three productions and twenty four performances each season. Our summer season operates throughout May, June and July in the Western Nebraska Community College Theater.













Five Rocks Amphitheater


Located along Five Rocks Road west of Gering, this amphitheater and pavilion houses bands and other open-air entertainment in the summer months, as well as Thursday night movies with a “drive-in”-like atmosphere. 1,500 seating theater with 40 x 120 pavilion with concession area and restrooms.  Horseshoe pits, playground structure and 8 acres of buffalo grass enclosed with fencing.












West Nebraska Art Center


We at the West Nebraska Arts Center are committed to provide artists a lively public venue to share their talents with our community. The Main Gallery and the Bronson Gallery at WNAC are beautiful spaces that feature 18 exhibits a year by local, national, and international artists representing a wide variety of visual art.








Ellis’ Harvest Home Corn Maze


Ellis’ Harvest Home is located on the farm west of Lingle that the Ellis family has been farming since 1959. Ellis kids, grand-kids and great grand-kids all spend time working at Harvest Home doing something, sometime during the year.














Monument Shadows Golf
