Life in The Valley
We are a vibrant region of nearly 49,000 residents combined, experiencing an abundance of job opportunities and a strong quality of life.
We would like to encourage graduates and former residents from the Scottsbluff/Gering area to return home to take advantage of employment opportunities. We are seeing many people return with family ties to our community. We also want to welcome those who may have moved to our community for the first time. For more information for newcomer’s and long time residents to become more familiar with and integrated into our community, click here.
The Scottsbluff/Gering area is the hub of all of Western Nebraska. You may be surprised at what we have to offer – plentiful job opportunities, higher quality of life and a lower cost of living than many cities such as Denver, Omaha, Kansas City and Chicago. We are sure you will find the Scottsbluff-Gering area a place where you can enjoy the mid-west lifestyle. Boasting recreation such as Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, Chimney Rock National historic Site, Scotts Bluff National Monument, Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area and Nature Center, and Lake Minatare State Recreation Area, outdoor adventures are abundant in Western Nebraska. But as great as our wide open spaces are in the outdoors, we have great indoor assets as well. The Riverside Discovery Center features a zoo, natural history center and much more. Local artists, community theater groups, musical acts, and traveling shows also bring the fun indoors at unique venues like the Midwest Theater. Local attractions feature concerts from some of the biggest acts, so you don’t have to leave the Valley to have a great time.
